High Potassium Levels

My fiance has been told that his potassium level of 6.4 is just shy of giving him a heart attack. He is a 28 year old drinker and smoker with high blood pressure and poor cholesterol.
What can be done to get him out of danger?

Joann  I am not a doctor,  has he seen a  interenst or family DR, for this? i would think he would need to find out what is causing the high pptasium levels. Is he over weight, ?
any other symtons, us men dont like to tell people we do ahve pain or problems soem toems esp. those close to us. Obliousley, if he can ,he should at leat cut down on the alcole and  smoking.I wish  him well. he is young and is at aage eh could help his body  a lot from perhaps futire problems.
