High Pulse - Low Blood Pressure

High Pulse - Low Blood Pressure

For my entire life (45 years) I have had extremely low blood pressure averaging 112/70 with low pulse -60 on average. Last month something happened that made my blood pressue skyrocket to over 146/106 with pulse around 120. My left arm was numb; my jaw was aching; and I felt something was wrong - terribly wrong. After a trip to the chest pain center, a dose of nytroglycerin and baby aspirin I had a nuclear stress test performed which didn't reveal anything significant. I had to stay for over 18 hours until my blood pressure returned to "normal" by their standards and was released to follow up with my regular doctor.

Is nytroglycerin given routinely? My husband is afraid I was having a heart attack and that is why they gave me the nytroglycerin and baby aspirin to stop the attack ??

In 2009 I had a regular stress test which revealed "anterior wall defect" but I still don't know what that means.

Doctor put me on Hydrochlorot which has my blood pressure steadily dropping - averaging around 118/96 but pulse remains high - sometimes as high as 115. Should I be worried? The doctor said my pulse shouldn't go over 75 but it never goes below 85. My next appointment with him is March 22. What do I need to know? Again, should I be worried?

I am a female and overweight although the drug has made me lose my appetite which is a good thing. I am having trouble passing urine since I began the Hydrochlorot - is this a common side effect? I also take Savella and Ambien.

Last query - horozontial ridges in fingernails - some people say this is a sure sign of a serious health problem. My parents both died of cancer at early ages (mother - lung/father - prostate) so I have no other person(s) to ask these questions. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

... nitro and an aspirin can be part of a normal protocol when going to the chest pain center with your symptoms.  That's what they did for me when I went with similar symptoms.

Fingernail ridges .. see  http://www.normanallan.com/Med/askdr/horizontal.htm

As for the hydrochlorot  just google it for more information.  As for anterior wall defect that too you can look up and could be the reason for the protocol at the chest pain center.

Call  the doctor's office for their advice ..
