I'm male, age 52, 15 lb overweight and, until the last few months, have not had high blood
pressurePressure ulcer. My father (age 72) has had it and been medicated for years. His blood
pressurePressure ulcer (under medication) runs in the range of 140-160/75-95. Mine runs 120-145/95-105. Is there particular significance to my diastoloic being so high? Today, for example, it is 145/105.

Dear Terry
Actually both your
systolicBlood pressure
Mitral valve prolapse and
diastolicBlood pressure blood
pressuresPressure ulcer are elevated. All this means is that you too have high blood
pressurePressure ulcer. Weight loss and sodium restriction would be a good idea. You will likely need medications at some point. Elevation in either systolic or diastolic blood pressure (or both) needs treatment.
I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to write back.
