High systolic than diastolic

by ambet, Jul 02, 2009 01:00AM
what made my blood pressure in systolic high than diastolic like for ex. 140 / 80. It is still normal reading or consider hypertension. Please tell me what to do to make it normal reading as 130 / 80-85 or 120 / 80.

many thanks..

The old thought was that this was still normal blood pressure.  However, now the thought is this is prehypertension.  Check your blood pressure to see if it goes back down to normal.  Monitor your blood pressure daily.  Cut back on salt intake to see if that helps get your blood pressure back down to normal around 120/72.

Blood pressure higher than 120/80 is now considered hbp and should be treated.  Change lifestyle ,diet, and exercise to lower and some doctors may treat depending on family history, etc.
