Hight Triglycerdies

  I had a blood Test taken on a Monday Morning at Work.  The week before I  drank heavily.  I also did not completly fast I had a peanut butter sandwich at 2:00 AM.  My cholesterol was 177, Triglycerides - 487 HDL - 34, LDL - 45 and VLDL - 97.  Can the drinking that week cause my triglycerides to be too high.

Thank you for your question. Drinking can cause the triglycerides to be elevated as can eating before the test.  I would recommend repeating the test in a couple on months after a full 8 - 12 hour fast.
