Holter results, periods of Mobitz I, but I get tachy easily?

by Howard Gelfman, Sep 01, 1999 12:00AM
Originally went to see cardiologist because resting pulse was increased to approx. 90-100 while simply standing. I have a very ensitive vagal tone evidently and have been dealing with panic/anxiety for some 20 years. I am under going many stressful events as of late. Often the faster rates leave me frightened which makes those catacholomines dance and rate gets faster. The compunded porblem is that on Holter results I have "3 manifested priods of Weinkebach,Mobitz I" at about 6:15-7:00 a.m. while sleeping with no symptoms that I know of. Although I do seem to use the bathroom at this time. I wonder if it is waking me up? This has been found on holter monitor before. Is there any need for great concern? My Cardiologist states not to worry, says 41 y/o and strong, echo negative and was there before and might be for the rest of my life! Will not prescribe inderal for the palps and fsster rate as he states it is not that fast and my holter shows that my slowest rate is 41 and in the past 38. He states not to complicate this with the inderal, but states alone it is not significant. Ant thoughts or confirmations on his opinions? Any positive feedback would be considered "calmimg". Any thougths on why my basil heart rate has increased over the last 4 months other than the obvious "psyhcological stressors" [fairly recent death in family and news of twins in my own?] TSH, T3/T4, Glucose, Chemistry, all else negative except holter. Posted earlier about cardiolite test due. Tried to check for anything organic that can mimic the panic syndrome. Thanks in adbvance for your patience and help. Howard

Mobitz 1 is a benign rhythm when accompanied by no other significant cardiac disease as is your case.

Stress is a major cause of increase heart rates as are coffee or other caffeinated products.  if you haven't done so i would limit these.

Best wishes on the arrival of your twins.
