How does onetaper a beta blocker that you have been taking for over six years without rebound anxiety or risk of a stroke?

Can some one tell me how to safely taper down the dose of a beta blocker, atenolol without causing rebound anxiety. I also understand that there could be possible heart attack if one tapers too quickly. I am so scared to taper the 75 Mg dose but it makes me SO TIRED that I cannot function. Please offer tapering advice that has worked.

When I tapered I started by cutting my dose in half for two weeks, then I cut that dose in half for two weeks. When I was down to 12.5 mg a day I started taking it every other day for two weeks. Then I did every third day for 1 week. I had some rebound tachycardia while I was tapering, but that eventually ended and that is when I knew I was able to stop taking it.
