How lon does it take for BP improvement on medication

I accidently found I have severly heightened BP. My doctor put me on Lisinopril( 10 Mlg) I have taken this med for one week and my BP is still high. I am 78 and maintain a good weight and eat well and exercise regularly. Any suggestions?

I was put on Benicar HCT 40/25 3 years ago and it had my blood pressure down from 140s/90s within a day or two. I hardly ever see a reading over 110/70 anymore except when I work out.

Bob how high was yuor BP before yuo started mediaction? and has it came down any?
lisinopril is a good med for BP and i take it to prorect my kindeys becaue  i ama dibetic.

I take the same ACE inhibitor for hpb.  I was concerned my bp was too high and probably needed another adjustment to the dosage.  I was told to wait 2  more weeks to evaluate...it appears the dosage is all right but there are wide variations!!  I home monitor a few times a day, but can't find a consistency for a specific time interval, etc.  The range can be 90/60 to 149/80.
