Husband and Heart bypass

Husband and Heart bypass

Approximately 4 years ago my husband had a quadruple heart bypass surgery. Everything appeared to be going well after the first year.  He had a very hard time emotionally since he has never been sick-at least not to this extent.  Since his surgery he had been going every year for a nuclear stress test, all was well until 1 year ago when his cardiologist said "he had a narrowing of the tip of the heart and a 53% decrease in blood." This meant now we did the nuclear stress test every 6 months.  I honestly have no idea what this means?  My husband will not let me into the office with him when he talks with the doctor anymore because I "ask to many questions".  But I am concerned.  Will this mean another surgery, I know my husband will never do that again as he has so much as said so,..obviously it is something to be concerned about but to what extent....he still goes to rehab (he says if he did not he would not do it at home) and has maintained a healthy weight...

I would not be overly concerned about the decreased blood flow to the tip of the heart.  It is a small enough territory where medical management is just as good as any intervention or surgery.  One thing is for sure.  He will not be rushed to surgery for this finding, and most of the time second surgery is rarely indicated as most of these blockages can be treated medically or fixed with stenting.  I wouldn't even rush to that because based on what you've said above, he is not having any symptoms such as chest pain or shortness of breath.  So don't be alarmed.  Make sure that he eats well, keeps a healthy lifestyle and takes his meds.
