Husband has Serious Heart Problems Need Help

My husband of 27 years has had 13 heart caths since 2001, 7 stents which failed, CAD, CVD, HPB, Sleep Apnea and a d a dbl bypass on a repirator for 5 days in 2007 which failed in a year.  His heart is closed on the right coronary artery because the art rejected all the stents.  He is now having problems and running at about 40-60% due to heart myopatthy.  He will go in the hospital on Oct.18 to see what they can do.  He also takes 20 pills a day and a disabled Veteran from Agent Orange.  We are going outside VA for the surgery but do not know what to expect.  The Drs admitted they should have never put in the stents but it is too late for that.  Any advice.

Hello gale59

Sorry to hear about your husband's health. It is hard to give you an accurate assessment of the situation without meeting your husband in person and reviewing all his data, but I can give you a general sense of the situation.

It certainly appears that he is plugged in with cardiologists and they have tried various measures to temporize the situation.
it is always hard to predict which stents will close and which won't. Some individuals have a propensity to develop stent restenosis which is what your husband has had multiple times.
From what you describe, he is symptomatic from coronary artery disease and appears to have mild reduction in heart function. Normal heart function is 55-60% and you mention that his heart function is 40-60% (Unclear where it lies but even 40% is not terrible)
Surgery done second time is technically more challenging but if done by an experienced surgeon can lead to significant improvement in quality of life and survival.

Hope that helps

Thanks so much for your response.  We had a miracle happen with Dr.  Chancey Crandall in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl and Dr. Gabriel Breuer who took care of him when his bypass failed.  On This past Thursday Dr Crandall went in with a new cut balloon which opened up 80% of his heart failed stents.  He has the Lords hands and his book is Chancey W..Crandall  Raising the Dead    A Dr. Encounters the Miraculous which is a true story.  I have had 3 Near Death Experiences and I am 59.  My thanks to you for taking the time to reply.  May God Bless You and thank you for commenting.
