Hi I have been on synthroid for the last two tears and just last year my doctor took me off of it because I became pregnant with my third and last child.  I am currently stationed in Iceland with my husband and the doctors here have referred me to an endocronoligst off base.  They all are saying the same thing that I have a goiter and my Ts4 are low.  Recently I went and had a radation scan done and it was confirmed that I was hyperthyroidism and I may have a cyst.  I have been dealing with my thyriod/goiter for three years and I am beginnig to feel tired of the whole situation.  I just won't to get it under control and dealt with soon as possible.  What can you tell me about my choices for the next step.

Sincerely yours,
Aretha

Dear Dave,

Yes, hyperthyroidism can contribute but this is not the usual cause of high blood pressure.  If one does have high thyroid it should be treated and the blood pressure followed.
