Hyperthyroidism

I WILL seek medical help with my problem but thought this would be a good place to start.  I am 55, female, taking Paxil and hormone replacement med.  As Hyperthyroidism runs in the family, I think I may have developed it recently.  Symtoms (symptoms) are excessive heat intolerance, thirst, disturbed sleep, breathlessness, trembling of legs and hands, weight loss, loss of appetite, left eye slightly larger and vision disturbed by little weird flashes.  However, my neckline is flat as ever; no enlargement.  I cry and get upset easily, even though I'm on the Paxil.  Can you tell me if these are soley the symptoms of Hyperthyroidism, or could it be something else???

It could be due to hyperthyroidism but the best way to tell is with a blood test of the thyroid levels. Menopause, anxiety, and diabetes are all alternative diagnosis.  Don't delay in getting medical help.

Loraye,
All of the symptoms you describe sound very much like hyperthyroidism.  And, your neck doesn't have to swell to have hyperthyroid symptoms.  I take Synthroid because I have no thyroid gland and if I take too much I get allt he symptoms you describe.  Go to your doctor and get a test.  It is a very quick, easy, and inexpensive blood test.  No need to wonder about it.
