Hypokinesis of the heart

Doc just said Hypokinesis of the heart.  Sending me to a cardio doc and having an echo done.  I'm not sure exactly what this is or what causes it.  How serious is it? I'm worried and not sure how serious this is...Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did the doctor find the reason for the hypokinesis?  Is it the same as congestive heart failure?  Whats the difference?  Thank you.

Hypokinesis is an impairment of heart wall movement and often the result of blood perfusion to the location of the impairment.  The seriousness relates to the degree of impairment, location, and underlying cause.  

How was the diagnosis of hypokinesis determined?  The echo will provide degree of impairment, location, and if there is a negative effect in the heart's ability to pump oxygenated blood and that will be calculated and the result will be the EF (ejection fraction, % of blood pumped with each heartbeat).

Seven years ago I had hypokinesis and the heart wall movement was impaired to the extent the heart only pumped 13-29% from the left ventricle.  Treatment was effective and currently the heart pumps adequately and no hypokinesis.

Depends on the cause and how long you had the problem. Also depends on whether the issue occurs at rest or during exercise only
