Hypotension

by Johan, Feb 12, 2001 12:00AM
My mother was brought to hospital by ambulance because of a very low blood pressure. BP going up and down between 80/40 to 62/28.
When does hypotension become critical? She is 76.
Nurses said it can go much more down, but didn't tell how much.

Dear Johan,
There is not a set number where low blood pressure becomes critical.  As long as the pressure generated is perfusing the brain and other organs with blood and there is no dizziness the blood pressure is "high enough".  In general however systolic blood pressures lower than 60-70 will raise eyebrows and the source of the low pressure is usually investigated.

I am a 40 year old female who exercises 6 times a week. I do both aerobics plus weights.  I'm a personal trainer and I exercise with my clients.  I watch my fat intake.  I take Vitamins and I was taking Ripped Fuel with Mahung for about 4 years. (2 capsules only with my exercise for energy.)  I have now stopped because my doctor said I have hypertension.  I also have hypothyroidism and hypoglycemia.  I have checked my blood sugar many times and it is in the normal range.  Last week, my doctor adjusted my thyroid pill. My cholesterol was up 6 months ago.  I was taking Gugulipid and Allicin 4000 Garlic.  I found out last week it only lowered it a tiny bit.  LDL-173 and HDL 63. I have now stopped these and in another week I'm suppose to start on a cholesterol lowering drug.

One month ago, I started to wake up in the morning shaking. This

was off and on until now.  For a week it has been constant.  Other symptoms in the past few weeks:  hives, dizziness, no energy, feeling faint, fast pulse-103 (usually 60's) sudden hypertension 146/110 (usually 126/70). Feeling short of breath with exercise. Burning sensation in heart area.  Do you have any ideas on what this might be?  I took a written test at my doctors

office and I am not depressed.

Okay I have a serious question to ask..maybe you may help me. I live in europe and I think my doctor is just completely wacked.
I have Hypotension, and On Verladyn for it, I also had a recent blood test showing that my cholesteral was at 281..it was 231 in dec 2000. I normally had a level of 175-190 range so that was a first for me.  I also have a lymph node in my back that is extermly large..size of a golfball that is hard iwth no pain.
I have recently gained 35 lbs in the last year..going from 105 to 140.  I am also 30 years of age...I just find everything confusing can you help me?  ***@****
