Hypothyroid and the use of steroids

by Joey the modda, Sep 21, 1999 12:00AM
What could happen to me if I use certain steroids and I'm hypothyroid? I was diagnosed with hypothyroid when I was born and been taking synthroid ever since?  I just want to know what con happen to my body if I use them. Would there be any side effects from the use of steroids?

Dear Joey,

I presume you are considering using anabolic steroids for body building purposes.  Let me encourage not to pursue this.  There are serious medical complications that can occur including liver problems, sexual dysfunctions and "steroid rage".  It can only have a detrimental effect on your hypothyroidism condition.
