I have HOCM

Hi, I have obstructive HCM, iv been advised to consider an ICD by my cardiologist as my symptoms are gettting worse, palpitations, shortness of breath, flat blood pressure during exercise, head rushes when I stand up and abnormal ecg. i also have a slight leak in my heart. my dad had one put in a year ago. Im 24 and dont really want one just yet if I can help it. as he seems to keep getting the shocks and its made him very tired and weak. he's retired so he's able to rest properly when he needs it, however if I had it done it would restrict me at work. I work in a complaints call centre - very stressful! I cant decide what to do myself. Iv been getting migraines a lot recently as well.
Any suggestions/points of view would be extremely helpful.

Hi I was dx with HOCM in 1985 had my first ICD implanted in 1991. A ICD will not make you tired your heart and meds will.  I was in my twenties when I got my implant, Doc`s said I had about three years left if I did not. Four years later my ICD saved my life so I am kind of partial to the ICD.
Have you seen a HCM specialist ? You may have other options. I wish you and your father the best of luck.

My son was five when I got my implant and I got to watch him grow up, The best reason for me to try the ICD.
