I am 16 years old, I'm relatively healthy, and i do exercise. But over this past week Ive been having chest pain, it feels like my chest is tightening up inside, and it is painful but not so that I am in constant pain it is more of an annoying pain, especially because i have it about 5-6 times a day. the pain doesn't last longer than 1 minute. i usually massage my chest and take deep breaths. I was wondering if it could be related to stress? Ive been having my exams recently, and revising is difficult for me, and on top of that I have boyfriend issues. Could anybody tell me whats causing this
Your pain does not sound cardiac in nature. Heart pain is usually a crushing pressure type pain that lasts longer than 30 mins and is usually constant. It is very, very unlikely that someone your age is having heart related pain.
You should tell you parents and visit your doctor to find the cause.
I agree with Jon. It is possible for a teen your age to be having heart related chest pain, BUT if that was true in your case your heart would be so badly damaged, you would never be able to be exercising, you'd barely be able to walk across the room without having the chest pain. Stress can cause what you are describing and muscle issues could also be the cause. With exercising, you have probably pulled a muscle or something like that. Sometimes cartiledge issue can cause pain. Tell your mother about what is going on and she can decide if a doctor's appointment is warrented.
