ICD and dental implants

would a debrillator prohibit me from having dental implants?  My EF factor is <25% and prior to knowing this I had dentures and am expected to have the mini dental implants done in January.  But know I have been told that I need to have an ICD - do I have to do one before the other or would dental implants have some sort of 'reaction' since they would be titanium and I don't know if that would have any risks associated with an ICD.

They would not interact with an ICD.  However, I would not have them implanted around the time of the ICD implant because of a small risk of a blood stream infection and a potential ICD system infection.  This is mostly theoretical, however, significant in my opinion.  If the ICD is for primary prophylaxis, another words, you have never passed our or had VT/VF or sudden cardiac death, you could probably get the implants now, wait a couple of months and then have the ICD implanted.  If you do get the ICD first, I would wait at least a couple of months before getting the implants.  You could also have antibiotic prophylaxis given to you prior to the dental implants to decrease the risk of a blood stream infection.
