ICD related?

I know this is going to sound REALLY weird, so bear with me....I had a Boston Scientific Teligen 100 implanted August 2009.

I've had problems with this ICD since implant with loss of capture issues and told it may be a fractured or leaking lead and been given the dr shuffle routine - cardio says to go to the EP, EP says it's the original EP's problem go back to him, but I can't because of an insurance dispute so he won't see me as a patient and doesn't take my new insurance.

I've had twinges the last 3 or 4 days that feel like I have zapping sensations in my R inside ankle area that are non stop...it's as if you were listening to an extension cord with a short or one of those annoying warehouse overhead lights with a short.

Does this sound like an ICD/lead problem?

my new EP is closed today and it takes months to get in to see him even when I do make an appt.  I can't find any info about this; sorry for such a strange question I can't think of anything else it could be.

thank you for your reply; I've seen several EP's and many cardiologists  - after my 3rd opinion didn't agree with either of the first two it really made me start questioning what my original EP and cardiologist did and treatment they gave me.

Originally I was told I had ARVD; which I questioned alot about and the EP gave me no answers so I went to another EP.  I didn't find out until over a year later he really dx me with HOCM which my new EP says I do not have and didn't need the ICD to begin with so it's been a frustrating 2 years.

My newest cardiologist says my problems are due to long term HBP which I do not have; I have lifelong LBP 90/60 and have been treated with midodrine from August 2009 - March 2011 when my bp spiked to 189/140...so I'm back at square one with no dr.

I was referred to Dr. Craig Asher by a member here but the 5 hour drive is not possible for me right now.

again thank you for your time; I will try and get a way to get in at CC in S FL soon.

Usually ICDs do not cause symptoms in the legs, even if the lead is not functioning normally.  However, it sounds as though you are not comfortable with the assessments of the physicians who have seen you thus far.  I recommend that you seek a second opinion from an electrophysiologist at a well-known cardiac center such as the Cleveland Clinic or another university hospital.  The Cleveland Clinic has same-day appointments if you call early in the morning.
