Imdur 30mg & nitrostat?

Hi there,

Non-urgent question - sent to my cardiologist but he's out of town for a few days.

I'm on Isosorbide mononitrate ( generic Imdur ) 30mg once a day, and I have an active scrip for Nitrostat as well, to treat my angina.  If ever needed, can a Nitrostat SL be taken when I'm already on Isosorbide Mononitrate without harmful effect?

Thanks,

~David

This is probably a question best answered by your doctor or pharmacist.  However, I have on numerous occasions taken Nitrostat when  taking a much stronger dose of Isosorbide mononitrate.  Just be ready for a really strong headache.

I'm on same drugs.  The Imdur is long acting nitro. I really don't have symptoms during the day.  My md also put me on an "anti anxiety' which takes the edge off any break through pain during the day.  SOMETIMES if I over do w/ physical work.  I do take a nitro.  SIT DOWN, Don't go fast, It's time to rest... that's what the symptoms & drugs do for you.  Hang in there.

This is my experience, but check w/ your GP-MD or Cardiologist.  you GP is probably easier to get hold of... IMHO

good luck!

Thanks for the heads-up on that.  No worries, I won't do anything without the approval of my cardiologist, was just looking for first hand information on what to expect if I should ever need to take a nitro for an acute angina issue.
