Inappropriate tachycardia

Posted By Emily on April 18, 1999 at 21:48:31
I am 33 years old and last year I began experiencing an increased hearate and an occassional increase in blood pressure. To make a long story short, I have been to three different cardiologists, and each has said that, yes there is something wrong, but they were not sure what was causing the tachycardia ( the latest Holter showed that my resting heart was around 115 and minimal activity caused it to go up to the 170's). Along with the high heart rate, I become very short of breath with little activity and on my worst days, I experience chest pain.  I am currently on Inderol, however, the benefits have been minimal and the side effects are not cundusive to the life of a young mother.  My latest doctor said that since all tests to rule out causes of the tachycardia have come back neg., he wasn't sure what to think and said the only thing to do was try beta blockers since an ablation was not an option. Research on my part suggests that I have inappropriate tachycardia and ablation is an option. If I am a candidate for an ablation, will I need a pacemaker?
