Infection from blood transfusion???

I had triple bypass surgery and that went, well except 20+ days post op I devloped a infection (a smale spot in the incision,)30days later I was admitted and had 3 debridements, and over the next 8 months I had 7  more operation, and the last one the Doctors removed my sternum,(sternectomy) They, said at first I had sternal osteomyelitis, the doctors were never able to diagois what the name of the infection was. My question is can a person contact a sternal infection from a blood transfusion?  In my case the blood question never came up. But on the other hand no Doctor came forward and said the blood transfusion can not cause a sternal would infection.
