Houston,

An ecg must be interpreted in the context of the patient who is undergoing the test.  It represents an aggregate of all the electrical activity in the heart at the time of the test.
Moreover, often the ECG is interpreted by computer algorhythms and not a person. computer is designed to give the worst possible interpretation so as not to miss any significant findings.

With respect to your ECG, some times we see Inferior myocardial infarction read by the computer with a Left anterior fascicular block. Generally, the 2 are mutually exclusive and when formally read, the final interpretation will probably change.

With respect to this isolated test, I would pursue further history and physical information with respect to you such as your cardiac risk profile and perhaps noninvasive imaging such as an echo cardiogram to help risk stratify you to decrease any significant cardiac risk.

good luck

Hello Doctor, Thanks for the quick reply. In the previous question I hit enter by accident and I couldn't post the full question. Sorry for that. Well here is the full History. Awaiting for your reply, Thanks, Houstondude.

Hi,

I am Male 31, Non Smoking, No Cardiac problems in the Parents History.

3 days back I started getting little pain around neck, shoulders, chest(in the middle), back in the middle of the shoulders and under arms. I have sinus. I visited Genral clinic and the doctor took ECG and refered me to Cardiologist ASAP. Following are the results from General Clinic. Upon visiting cardiologist he suggested me to check with another senior cardiologist and they took my ECG.

He told me there was no problem with your heart, The ECG results are just normal to your age and there was no possible heart attack. He asked me to use ibuprofen daily and if the pain persists then visit doctor again in 2 weeks. He said if you had any problem you should get different ECG results when they took ECG both times. But in your case its same results both the times. He asked me to take stress test.

Please advice me if this is normal case or need any immediate medical attention ? I am still getting very little pain (on and off) on the back right shoulder and chest both left and right and cold sweat and feeling anxiety.

Thanks,
Hdude.

While I am not a doctor if you google Left Axis Deviation you will see the possible reasons for this are a Fascicular Block and a Ingerior MI. But another reason for this is a normal variant especially in young adults. This is probably why the cardiologist told you not to worry why a general doctor did. (He was assuming the worse in order to provide the best possible care)

Of course discuss this with your doctor.
