Irregular Heartbeats that is making me feel sick

I am 38 years old male, for a long while, I had this feeling of sudden nausea, vomiting and flip-flopping in the middle of my chest, but until recently, the condition has been getting worst and worst. Lately if I remember correctly, it is always after exercise or some excessive activities.  I been feeling the urge or nausea, vomiting, light headed, dizzy, chills and sweats that lasted for at least 30 minutes.  I always thought it was something from my stomach, but than again, my stomach also have it's problem as well, like GERD and Ulcer.  I just had an upper endoscopy done today and the GI doctor said it was not that bad, with minor gastritis. So with that said, if the stomach is not the issue, than it must be my heart. Come to think of it from way back, it usually is after some kind of exercise, including feeling sick after sex, (my doctor was not able to answer that question me when I ask why I feel that way.) Now I think the answer is clear to me it must be my heart.

Histories: in the pass couple of years, I had Anxiety attach and been in and out of the hospital, had done many ECG, Stress test, X-ray, blood work and even an Angiogram which all came back normal. All the test has been done over a year now, maybe it's time for me to have it done again. Also history of Ankylosing Spondylitis and been on NSAID for many years, that is the cause of my GERD and Ulcer as well.  Been off these meds for a few weeks and stomach felt better, but still not good.  High blood Pressure and been on Diovan for a couple of years and in most cases, it is under control.

A couple of month ago, my doctor switch me over Atenolol, I took it for 3 days, my anxiety came rushing back, my mind was going off the chat, almost blackout while I was driving on the Highway. Stop the med and my doctor gave metoprolol, also another Bata-blocker.  I was a bit worry about taken it because of the side effect from Atenolol.  Doctor told me to take a very small dose, 12.5mg, I took it for the first time today, I felt a little weird after 1/2 hour, but it seems the weird feeling has gone away after an hour or so.

Sorry for the long Story, I guess my main question and concern is has anyone has palpitation/irregular heartbeats that made them so sick?  it was so bad, my friend actually thought I was dead at one point, because I was sleeping on one side, with mass sweat and didn't move a bit. She touch my upper body and it was cold and sweaty. she got so scare, she shook me a few times and I finally woke up.

I know everyone had irregular heartbeats and normally they are not dangerous, but if I have irregular heartbeats that cause so much effects, can it be dangerous?

What are you doing for the gastritis?  A great many folks on this forum have tied GERD symptoms to their feeling of heart discomfort/arrhythmia.  Have you tried something like Prilosec OTC for the ERD symptoms?  I would get a funny feeling in my abdomen prior to an episode of arrhythmia and after taking Prilosec the feeling is gone and the arrhythmia has been greatly reduced.  Discuss with doctor to make sure it works with other meeds.

You could put your concerns strongly to your Doctor and ask for a holter monitor to record any abnormal heart events. Rather than keep guessing at what the problem is and playing with different meds, it would be better to obtain a definitive answer for the problem. That's just my opinion. If you have the feelings every day, then a 24hr holter would suffice, but if it's not every day, emphasise this to your Doctor so the monitor can be worn for a longer period of time. If it is an abnormal rhythm and it causes dizziness and nausea, then it obviously needs to be addressed because it sounds like your blood pressure suddenly drops.
