Is This Angina?

by roland, Mar 13, 2003 12:00AM
At times I will have a pain in my chest that only lasts briefly. Is feels the same as if I were pressing my finger hard into my chest and holding it there. Most times this feeling is center chest to the left, in the area slightly under my left breast. It happens only at rest and I can't remember it ever happening during exercise or work. Any comments on this? I am a 43 year old male. Very overweight, but I have alot of muscle mass from lifting weights previously. The last time I was on a stepper at the gym was 3 years ago. I weighed 360 at the time. I soon progressed to 1/2 an hour on the stepper at a very intense pace. It was amazing what I did for my size. I had no chest pain during this exercise. Is this any indication of my heart health? (putting aside the fact that I am out of shape now).

Roland,

Your symptoms could indeed be angina, but a more thorough, detailed history would be required to know.  Unfortunatley this kind of question does not lend itself to easy answer over the internet.

If you just began having this chest pain recently, then you need to speak to your doctor about it without delay.

Good luck.
