Is it angina?

Is it angina?

I have a question!
I suffer strange burning in the neck, under the jaw, it feels like a I being suffocated. When I walk (I am 67 years old, always been active) I feel sort like pressure above clavicle bones, not at the centre of chest. Then it calms down when I sit down. Other times I can work around the house and nothing happens. Doctor says it is caused by acid reflux and by my nerves, but I know lots of things are written off to nerves and then it ends up being something else. Year and half ago I had stress test, which on exercise I had 1 mm gently upsloping ST depression inferiorly, whatever that means. Echo said trivial central mitral regurgitation, trivial pulmonic regurgitation and no evidence of stenosis on Doppler. No evidence of significant valvular heart disease. Normal left and right ventricular dimension and systolic function with no discrete wall motion abnormalities identified. Sometimes I also have this burning sometimes when I am sitting down. I also have degenerative disc disease at multiple levels in the lower cervical spine. Could this burning be from the spine?

"Upward or downward shifts in the ST segment are extremely important. Deviation of the ST segment from baseline can indicate infarction or ischemia, pericarditis, electrolyte abnormality, or ventricular strain". A diagnosis for any of the conditions would require further testing.  Apparently, the condition is unsubstantiated and of no concern.  Everything looks good and no problem.

My stress test was discontinued for medical reasons after 4 minutes and the report states 1 mm ST segment depression and down sloping in the inferolateral lead.  I believe the "depression inferiorly" in your report is the lead (1 of 12).

Trivial regurgitation is of no significance.  Sitting down and experiencing a burning sensation doesn't appear to be associated with a heart problem.

Hello!  Like you I have been having so concerning symptoms which would lead someone to believe they were having a heart attack.  I have chest pressure, left arm/shoulder pain, jaw pain, and a constant lump in throat.  I go to my PCP today to get confirmation that this is all from my hiatal hernia/GERD.  I am taking Protonix but it is not working anymore :-(.  Like you 90% of my pains are when I am sitting/bending over, which is leaving me to believe it is not my heart.  I feel your pain!!!  Good luck you and I will keep you posted about my dr. appt today!
