Is it heart related

by cheracjen, Apr 01, 2008 08:31AM
I am a 52 year old female.  I have these weird symptoms which come and go and have been doing so for the past 10 - 12 years.  I have assumed that since this has been going on so long it must not be my heart but I wanted to ask anyway.  Recently these episodes have happened 3 or 4 weeks apart and years ago they only happened 6 - 8 months apart.  I get this sudden intense pain in my chest and back which quickly radiates to my neck, jaw and ends with pain in my temple.  It has gotten where it lasts a little longer than previously but only really probably lasts about 5-6 minutes.  Usually I take an aspirin or BC powder when this happens.  Does this sound heart related?

hello,  any time yuo have the type of pain you desribed, it could be.  You should at least go and se yuor family DR In my opione and i am not  a DR. if yuo have alleard told your familty R. and he hasnt ordered any kind of test, i advise you to perhaps get another family DR. Do you have any other ymtons during thses episodes? do you have shortness of  breath fast heart beat?

I agree with going to see your doctor. it could be heart related. your doctor might run a series of test an EKG and blood work just to rile things out.
good luck

You definately could be expierencing what is called angina (Chest Pain) It is related with Atherosclerotic Heart Disease. I have a question for you. Does the chest pain happen when you are at rest? Or does it start to happen when you are doing something exertional, then it goes away when you rest? Like running, getting groceries...etc. Typically anginal episodes last from 3-5 minutes. It is a serious problem! You have to get the chest pain under control if it is Cardiovascular. I would recommend seeing the doctor immediately, to rule out anything bad, these symptoms can worsen and typically go into an Acute Coronary Syndrome which is a Heart Attack. You want make sure that you can do everything to steer away from a having a heart attack. My prayers are with you good luck and I wish for the best.
