An atrial anuerysm (septum) is a tissue weak spot of the atrial septum (wall that separates the two upper chambers). That may or may not be a problem depending on the severity and progression if any. The danger is that the anuerysm could rupture and some blood would flow from the left atrium to the right atrium rather than pumped into circulation.
Mitral valve leaflet calcification is a condition that prevents the leaflets from tightly closing over the valve opening and some blood leaks back into the upper chamber. The leakage of all valves are trivial and that condition is considered medically insigificant...seldom progresses and no symptoms.
Thanks for your input. I am still waiting to hear from my primary doctor, but it puts my mind at ease. Now if only they can figure out what is causing my shortness of breath.....
Enjoy your 4th of July!
