Is this normal post ablation?????

Is this normal post ablation?????

Hi all
I had my 2nd ablation on Tuesday for atrial tachycardia. It was a nightmare! EP decided to use both groins this time. Registrar accidently hit left femoral artery, having missed the femoral vein 3 times. Cannula blocked. My oxygen sats dropped & had to have oxygen. BP dropped very low & they had to monitor via artery. NO sedation for ablation this time & felt some of the burns. Then had an arterial bleed on the ward later when I was allowed to get up after 5 hours of laying flat. My first ablation was briliant, this one totally different. EP found my atrial tachycardia this time was coming from the posterior wall of the right atrium, which he said is quite rare & he hasn't seen many from there (he is a UK expert & done lots of ablations). My first ablation was SVC/crista terminalus.

My question is this......this started yesterday (had ablation on Tuesday). Everytime I stand up & walk around the house, my heart feels like it is pounding in my chest. It makes me feel weird, it's a very strange sensation. I take my pulse during this & it's normal 60-70. I climb the stairs & it feels like even stronger pounding in my chest.......HR is around 80. It feels like the tachycardia I used to get, with my heart pounding, but the HR is normal. It makes me try & catch my breath, I'm almost breathless with it. As soon as I sit down again the pounding stops & my breathing is normal.

I had my first ablation last year & felt normal within 2 days. I felt great for 5 months. I never had anything like this & am very worried. I know your heart is inflammed & irritated straight after an ablation & this lasts weeks, but I don't know if what I'm feeling is normal post ablation.

Did anyone else have anything like this post ablation? Please let me know.

Thanks
Jane

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time, I had the same problem after my 3rd and 4th ablation. I posted on the mayo clinic boards and the doctor there explained to me that it was just like when you burn your skin (taking time to heal that is) Mine was especially when I bent over, how weird is that? but it also happened with any type of exertion no matter how minor the exertion was (getting up to go to the bathroom). I hope it gets better for you real quick :)

Hi.........I just posted a reply to you but am not sure if it sent ok, so am sending another! Sorry if you get it twice!

Thank you SO much for your reply, much appreciated. It encourages me that what I'm feeling in my chest is normal post ablation. How long did you have it for? Days or weeks? I felt absolutely great after my first ablation & didn't expect all these strange sensations (pounding heart etc) this time.

I too get it when I lean forward. Also, climbing the 14 stairs indoors leaves me breathless & winded, with my heart pounding. But my HR is only 80 (so it can't be my tachy coming back) & when I sit down it all goes away within minutes. But definately minimal exertion sets it off.

I was also wondering how many ablations one person can have & I notice you had 4.
I had 11 burns first time & 7 this time. Both my atrial tachys came from a different area in my right atrium so I was just wondering, if I was unlucky enough to get another atrial tachy from another part of my heart, could they ablate a 3rd time. I am intolerant to all the drugs they have tried & although I had a rough time on Tuesday, I would go through it again to be arrythmia free.

What did you have your 4 ablations for?

Thank you again for your reply

Best wishes
