I recently did a follow up VAP test. My initial test was 6 months ago. The two main goals I had was converting LDLLdl test pattern from A/B to A, and lowering a slightly elevated VLDL-3 (13 mg/dl). I was able to convert to pattern A fortunately, but I was only able to lower VLDL-3 by 2 points, down to 11 which is still out of range, according to the VAP ranges. Further test results that may be of importance:
HDLHdl test-2 from 15 to 24
HDLHdl test-3 from 36 to 46
LDLLdl test from 82 to 90
Lp(a) from 5 to 6
Trigs from 103 to 75
Total VLDL from 21 to 17
Remnant Lipo from 24 to 20
apoB100 from 74 to 71
IDL from 11 to 9
LDL-R from 66 to 75
Total Chol from 157 to 177
Recent Homocysteine, and CRP levels were well below desired range. I also donate blood 3/4 times per year to minimize the adverse affects of potentially elevated ferritin levels.
From what I have read, VLDL-3 is not so much genetically influenced. What more can be done to lower an isolated high VLDL-3? Is there a certain supplement that could help? Something obvious that can be modified in diet? I take fish oil (2G), niacin (500mg), and vitamin C (500mg) daily. My diet is very low fat, low cholesterol. I use healthy oils and eat fruits/vegetables on most days. I avoid red meat entirely. No fast food. Exercise every other day. My family history is very strong for early heart disease. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
