Issues with meds?

Last year I was diagnosed with Stage 2 hypertension and went through about 6 medications before I found one that I could even tolerate.  All of the meds were making me completely useless with fatigue.  We finally settled on Metroprolol xr, 50 mg.  My BP had been pretty stable since.

Lately I have been having severe fatigue, and recently my nail beds and lips started turning blue.  My BP and heart rate are also pretty labile right now, with my BP varying from 98/59-155/90 and my heart rate from 50 to 80.

I am guessing something has gone whacky with my medications, and while I am waiting to see my doctor thought I'd ask if anyone has any ideas what is going on?  I also have high cholesterol.  I'm a 44 year old female (whose husband eats bacon 3 meals a day and has escaped such horrors, and yes I am bitter!)

It's nice to know I'm not alone, every type of med the Doctors throw at me make me feel awful. My blood pressure is borderline hypertension and a few weeks ago they put me on 2.5mg of ace inhibitors. I was told how ramipril is great for blood pressure and has lots of added benefits too. Well, my blood pressure went UP, and I had chest/throat pains. I stopped the medication after a week and hey presto, BP back to borderline and no pains. It appears they have put you on a beta blocker to control your blood pressure, which also restrains the heart from reacting to adrenaline. I was like a zombie when on beta blockers. I think maybe the beta blockers are upsetting things and the longer you take them, the harder it is to wean off. Have you looked at possible causes of high blood pressure in your diet? do you add salt to things when you cook them for example? Do you eat lots of fruit which are great for giving the nutrients required for keeping arteries supple.

Just I remember, anemia can also be a reason for your symptoms... a simple blood test will say it.

Your blue lips and fingernails can indicate there is a low oxygen level in your blood and is medically termed cyanosis.  Cyanosis can be related  heart disease, lung disease, etc.  There can be poor circulation from clots, (DVT, deep vein thrombosis), (PVD pulmonary vessels disease), asthma, etc.

A complete blood count can help diagnose underlying cause for your fatigue as well.

Hope this helps, thanks for your question.

Has the weather temperature increased in your area?

The blue color indicates that you are not getting good blood flow, may be due to the low BP. This can also be the reason of your fatigue (although 98/59 is not that low) .

Normally hot weather makes your BP to drop. If this is the case, tray to stay as fresh as possible and hydrate yourself properly.

If this is not the case, perhaps is time to go back to your doc.
