Jaw Discomfort

by Mikki1005, Nov 08, 2006 12:00AM
While walking on my treadmill the other day after almost an hour, I experienced a "popping or clicking" sensation around my jaw. I also felt dizzy, nausaus and my heart rate started to elevate a bit. I immediately slowed the speed down and the heart rate immediately started to go down. As usual, I checked my blood pressure after the work out and it seemed to be normal (105/58). My blood pressure has pretty much been normal.

Every since that incident, I'm very conscientious
about my jaw. It's difficult to describe...there is no pain (heavy feeling at the jaw).

History
Idiopathic Cardiomyopathy
Coreg 25mg
Daily Aspirin
Scheduled next week for an ICD

My doctor has told me with my current condition he is not concerned about a 'heart attack' (more so arrythmia's). Could the incident with my jaw be more so related to nerves/anxiety?

Mikki,

thanks for the post.

It's hard to tell since I dont know the other issues surrounding your cardiomyopathy. Jaw pain can sometimes be referred from the heart as an equivalent of angina. If your symptoms have been persistent over several days though it would be highly unlikely to be the case. I would discuss the finding with your physician.

good luck

Hi,

I noticed you are taking Coreg daily. Jaw pain is listed as a less common side effect of taking Coreg. I have the same problem at a much lower dosage than you. I also have shoulder pain. I thought I was injuring myself somehow until I googled Jaw Pain and Coreg.

Cheers,

Wendell
