Jumping in chest?

Hi.  I am a 28 year old female with no prior heart problems.  I have always had normal blood pressure.  Yesterday when I woke up, I started having what I guess are palpitations.  It sort of feels like something is jumping in my chest.  I get several of these a minute.  Does anyone have a clue what this could be?  I am thinking of going to an urgent care facility tonight, would they be able to do an EKG there?  TIA.

I'm not a doctor but it sounds like a PAC (Premature Atrial Contraction) or a PVC(Premature Ventricular Contraction) Both are pretty normal and benign in an otherwise healthy heart. As for an EKG, unfortunately, an EKG is only useful for activity that is occuring that very minute. A 24 hour holter or 30 day event monitor is a better way to pick up and diagnose ectopy that occurs frequently or infrequently. You may want to ask your PCP about these options. I hope this helps you.

Yes, you're almost definitely having PVCs or PACs, and they're harmless.  But do get checked out, as you should anytime you have a new cardiac symptom.
