Kawasaki Syndrome

Posted By Michel J on November 11, 1998 at 15:42:59:

I am a 27 year old female, RN, in critical care.  I was diagnosed with
Kawasaki's when I was 8 or 9 with no (apparent) residual heart disease.
Non-smoker, non-drinker, exercise 2-3x a wk, a few pounds here and there,
but not overweight.  In October 1997 I had a grand-mal seizure  - MRI, EEG,
CT, LP, bloodwork all normal.  Chalked it up as a fluke.  Three weeks ago
I had two more grand-mals, both within two hours of each other.  Again,
all tests are showing nothing.  I am now taking Dilantin and Lamictal, have
had no problems since. No family hx of seizures.
With all of that, I would like to know if there has been any research on
children with Kawasaki's developing seizure disorders as they get older -
could this be part of my problem and would it be wise to seek a cardiology
consult?
Any comments you could provide me with would be greatly appreciated -
thank you very much!!
