L ventricle and mitral valve myxoma

My husband is 39 yrs. old and was healthy until a few weeks ago.  It all started with flu like symptoms,to a staph infection then ended up with  a large stroke. L carotid occluded.  There is a mass of 2cm in size on his LV and mitral valve.  The doc is saying it is probably a myxoma. Not sure due to not being able to do surgery yet.   Surgery will not be until 3 months from now at Cleveland Clinic. What I am wanting to know is this.  If it is indeed a myxoma, is he is great danger of more emboli?  Or would we be safe to say that the damage is done?  I am a nurse and I guess I just want someone to tell me their opinion.  This whole situation is so bizarre.  Our lives changed in one day.  We have two young boys.  Maybe I am searching for someone to just tell me it will be okay.  Thank you .

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that you posted on the wrong forum like I did.  This is not the doctor-patient forum.  I did it by mistake, I should have known something was up since I was able to post.  I have been trying for 2 months.  Good luck.
