LP(a) 165ml

During a visit to the Doctor I had a cholesterol test done, It came back at 7.2. I have taken simvastatin for 3 months and it has reduced to 4.2 I also had my LP(a) taken it it has come back at 165.5. I am a 54 year old woman I'm on Ramapril 2.5 for blood pressure   40mg simvastatin and a small asprin I have a family history of heart disease.I can walk upto 20 miles a week for exercise.
Am I taking all the right steps to prevent heart disease or would I most likely have it already and it's just a matter of time.
I hope you can comment on this.

The current recommendations for maintaining cardiovascular fitness includes lifestyle modification via diet and exercise as well as medications (when indicated).  For cardiovascular exercise, the recommendations are for 20-30 minutes of aerobic exercise (biking, jogging, swimming, etc) in order to achieve about 60-80% of your maximal heart rate (220 - age), 4-5 times/week. A heart healthy diet includes a low calorie, low-sodium diet (< 2 grams/day) that is also rich in fiber (25-30 grams/day). Statins are indicated for hyperlipidemia in order to achieve lower your LDL to your target goal (i.e. < 70 for diabetics, previous heart attack/documented cardiovascular disease). Blood pressure medications include a number of medications including diuretics and ACE inhibitors. You seem to be on the right medications (statin, ACEi) and would continue to incorporate a daily exercise regime as well as a healthy diet.
