Any condition or process which leads to stiffening of the left ventricle can lead to diastolic dysfunction. The causes of left ventricular stiffening are high blood pressure, aortic stenosis, scarred heart muscle, constrictive and restrictive cardiomyopathy severe systolic dysfunction which can lead to ventricular dilation etc.Treatment of the cause is very important .Medications used are calcium channel blockers,angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors .Early diagnosis and management may improve the prognosis of this condition.
