LVH - Resolved

by Janale, Dec 03, 1999 12:00AM
Hi,

My uncle was diagnosed with LVH and hypertension last year. After 1 year of bp control, he went to another Cardiologist and did the echo again. According to the new report, his LVH is resolved and all in within normal limits. My questions are:

1. Does the interpretation of echo images vary among the cardiologists?

2. Isn't it too soon for him to have his LVH resolved?

3. He wants go get off of the bp medicine he is taking. Is it wise?

Dear Mel,

LVH may reverse with blood pressure control It appears that your uncle is one of the lucky ones.  LVH may resolve this quickly in some, in others it takes longer and in some it may never reslolve.  He should continue his BP medicine or this thickening of the heart will likely return.
