Left ventricular assist device, complications

Has the removal of the LVAD proven more difficult in men who have a small chest cavity?  The LVAD is a rather cumbersome machine and could become pressed against the back of the breast bone making it difficult to reopen the chest for the transplant procedure. Is there any information or research on this matter?
