Leptin levels and heart attack?

Leptin levels and heart attack?

Dear Dr. I recently read an article regarding a link between a hormone leptin produced by fat cells and heart attack from a study by a Dr. Soderberg mentioned at the 20th congress of the European Soc. of Cardiologe in Vienna.  After reading this, I was wondering if this could be the reason why my husband had his heart attack.  About 10 years ago, my husband had about 10 fatty lipomas removed.  At that time, when asked why he had these, I was told the way our fat spreads, his clumps.  So when he
had the heart attack, I right away asked if the fat that's causing these lipomas could have somehting to do with it.  Between the removal of the 10 lipomas ten years ago and the time he had his recent heart attack, he now
has approximately 100 or more, no exaggeration.  Fortunately, most are under the skin so it doens't look hideous, but some are protruding, some
the size of golf ball and lemons.  More has come since the heart attack.
When we take normal blood tests, do they check this leptin level? If this
could be the cause, then more than likely he will have another heart attack because this fat keeps coming and none of the medicine he's on
is reducing this.  He was 42 when the MI occured, he's now 43, had no
history of heart disease, him or his family, his cholestrol was low but
Dr. said ratio of good to bad wasn't good, no high blood pressure, hasn't
taken a day off sick in the past 8/9 years. The only thing wrong with him
was these fatty tumors.  What do you think? Any info you could find on this would be appreciated.  Thanks, Laura
