Liptor side effects

by Cris Kraft, Nov 14, 1999 12:00AM
My Father had a heart attack in July '98(his second)(First one in 1968). It was caused by a blockage of one artery, 90%. An angioplasty was performed with no stint. He's been fine since except:
His muscles get extremely sore. It's happened ever since he started taking this medicine called Liptor (liptor).
Can you give me any background and advise on what he can do to offset this side effect. He's of course taking advil & so forth to combat this. Let me also say he is 68 years old and very active.

Thanks,
Cris

Lipitor may cause myositis.  this goes away with discontinuation of the medication.  You should mention this to your physican.  Other statins may have less of this side effect.

I have been taking 10mg of Lipitor, daily, at bedtime for about 2 years.  Recently, I am experiencing indigestion with lots of gas, feel extremely tired and am experiencing cold feet and cold head.  Can this be due to the Lipitor?  At the onset of heart disease, my chloestrol was 240. HDL 36.  I have been diet conscious, stepped up my exercise and presently my chloestrol is 136, HDL 36.  I am 68 years old and my blood pressure is normally low.  Would like to have my circulatory system completely checked by the new process (forgotten the name of it).  Can this be done at the Cleveland Clinic?
