Lisinopril for myocardial fibrosis?

by Dana, Dec 13, 2000 12:00AM
I read a report from the UK where lisinopril has been proven to be highly effective in reducing myocardial fibrosis.  Would this medication also be effective in reducing fibrosis caused by myocardial sarcoidosis?  My pulse rate tends to increase excessively during exersize due to damage caused by the sarcoidosis although I maintain a (low dose) regimen of prednisone and amiodarone.  I received a Medtronic ICD three years ago but my heart function remains severely restricted due to its rigidity.  This is the primary obstacle preventing my full recovery from near death due to total heart block.  If not lisinopril, are there any other medicines or procedures that may reduce fibrosis?

Lisinopril would not be expected to reduce the fibrosis that occurs in sarcoid. Other than immunosuppressives such as prednisone, there is not much else to treat sarcoid specifically.
