LoneAfib and othostatic hypotension

Thanks for answering my post on 10-31-02. I was telling you about my orthostatic hypotension after having 3 ablations for afib with no success. You said you didn't think it was from ablations, and from side effect of meds. I was taken off all my meds for one month to rule out this possibility, and I still had BP problems that are very intermittent. My doctors don't know what really is causing this too happen. Proamatine and florinef have failed to work. One minute I can have normal readings, and the next, it drops drastically when I stand. I never had this problem before my third ablation for my afib. I still have afib even though I am back on flecainide. I just had an episode yesterday while exercising, and was forced to quit. I don't know why BP results are intermittent. Could it be from afib that I can't detect? I was in hospital 4 days with blood pressure jumping all over the place, and passed tilt table test..knew I would, cuz felt good when test was being done. Later that day BP was dropping to low to do stress test. Had stress test in past, and I passed, but I didn't have this problem back then, just Afib. Doc's sent me home with no answers, and said to check with my EP who did my ablations, put on proamatine, then florinef-no luck. I am on coumadin, is it possible that I might have bleeding going on somewhere that could be causing BP problems? My EP is head of Department at Henry Ford in Detroit. He can't locate origination of Afib, or figure out why blood pressure is dropping intermittently. Could I have some kind of blockage? I am 42 and no other health problems.

Dear Lynnieben,

It is difficult to say what the cause of your drop in blood pressure is due to. Your case is very complicated in that you have had 3 prior ablations for atrial fibrillation. Without knowing more of your history I would hate to offer possible explanations without having all of the facts. I agree  with CCF-MD-RCJ, that a second opinion from an institution such as the Cleveland Clinic would be a good idea. The world's experts are here and more questions can be asked about your symptoms. Sorry I could not be more informative.

Thanks for your question,

Thanks for your concern. I had a really hard time trying to post also. It took me over a week to post my first one. I tried all different hours. Early morning is the best. I got lucky and posted mine at about 7:30 am. I guess the saying goes:"Early bird gets the worm". I wish you luck in trying to post!
