Long term pericarditis

Long term pericarditis

I have had pericarditis for over a year now (diagnosed Jan 06) I was initially treated with voltrol, then prednisalone. I had an echo which was negative and was discharged by the cardiologist after one apponitment. He informed me that this could go on for months but one year on I still have weekly discomfort and sometimes very severe chest pain. Im becoming concerned that there could be long term damaged to my heart especially as Im only 30 yrs old and not being treated or seen by anyone. What can be done and what are the long term risks to this condition. I do not want to use steroids long term.
