Lopressor side effects

by Sherry, Aug 20, 1999 12:00AM
I was given Lopressor for high blood pressure, but after a month of taking it, I developed a "burnt tongue" feeling.  My doc decided to switch me to a new family of HP drugs and gave me Cardizem.  That helped my BP, took away 90% of the burnt tongue side effect, but made my PVC's worse.  So he put me back on Lopressor to see if I would have the same burnt tongue side effect and I do.  Does this sound like a side effect of Lopressor?  I can't pin it on anything else.  It isn't listed as a side effect and I was just wondering if anyone else or you docs have heard of it?
Thanks, Sherry

Dear Sherry

I have not ever heard of that specific side effect, but that does not mean it is impossible. If it is the Lopressor, I am not sure why you still had some of your symptoms on the Cardizem.

I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to write back.
