Low Blood Pressure

I have had high blood pressure for 15 yrs. Treated with 3 different meds (HCTZ, Avapro and Atenolol), suddenly, approximately 4 weeks ago I began getting dizzy spells quite frequently.  My pressure during these spells is quite low, often 90/60 or a bit lower.  The doc has done CT scan, no brain tumor, blood work, nothing remarkable, urinalysis, nada, she keeps throwing things like Lupus, Parkinson's, ALS at me and now I am terrified!  Wouldn't the blood work eliminate some if not all of these diseases.  I see an EP for afib, called him, did stress/echo and monitor, heart rate fine ok.  Any ideas out there...how worried should I be?  Looking forward to answers!

To add to the above comments...depending on the amount of medication you are on perhaps lowering one or more might result in a slightly higher BP?

I'm with Beema36 on this - ANS dysfunction which most dr's dismiss as many other things.  Have you had a tilt table test to see what your system does during one? may be very helpful, so mention it to your dr but could it be that your meds have something to do with the symptoms?

Dizzy spells could be from a great multitude of things like ANS, infections, inflammation, inner ear, heart etc be careful when you're dizzy I've injured myself so many times over the past 35 years and recently severely sprained my neck when my bp dropped too quickly and I blacked out hitting the edge of the tiled tub :(

I know for myself and quest in finding what's wrong; I've had to go to a Internist, Endocrinologist, Rheumatologist and infectious disease dr's to get specific testing for some of those things you've mentioned.  The Rheumy is the best though; he looked at the big picture of everything together and is doing further testing than some of the others did.

Have you had things like ANA, ANCA, Cyroglobulin, C-Reactive Protein, Sed Rate, Protein Electro etc blood work done yet? If not find a good Rheumatologist and/or internist and rule out the things the other dr mentioned like Lupus.

I am not sure why the Dr is throwing those conditions out without testing. I started with the same problem in 2007 and started having fainting spells. In 2009 I was sent to an electrophysilogist who diagnosed me with autonomic dysfunction. My bp is very labile and can be 100/60 and within a short time 190/100. I also can only stand for very short periods or bp will drop and I will faint.
Try not to think the worst until you have testing, etc. Oh I also have ms which may have some connection to my problems. Just wanted you to know you aren't alone in this.
