Low Diastolic Blood Pressure _ Help please

Hello.  Can someone please advise if diastolic blood pressure that fluctuates between 61 and 69 is too low for an elderly person (my mother is aged 74).  I'm very concerned about her as her blood pressure was quite high a few weeks ago and then her doctor changed her meds (and then changed them again for a 2nd time) and since then her systolic blood pressure is anywhere between 137 and 155 and her diastolic as mentioned above swings between 61 and 69 (she is getting the odd dizzy spell as well)  
Can anyone offer any advice as she is starting to fret?

The problem appears to be the medication.  My doctor wants my blood pressure as low as possible without any side effects, and a dizzy spell would indicate a possible over medication.  Also, there may be higher/lower than normal readings for a period of time before the system adjusts.

Thank you very much for your reply.  She has been on this new medication for 6 days, does it take a couple of weeks before the system adjusts or should it have happened by now?  She has an appointment to see her doctor in a week - I'm just wondering if she should see him sooner?  Thanks again.

It shouldn't take more than several days, but that doesn't rule out that it may take longer for some individuals.  Your mother may want to call the doctor's office for some advice.  The office would have your mother's medical history, etc.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but I wish your mother well, and the circumstances doesn't sound life threatening. etc. The feeling dizzy shouldn't be ignored because a fall could have serious implications. Take care
