Low Systolic Pressure After Exercise

by Uchiha, Mar 16, 2008 07:10PM
High, im 16 years old, and I observed that my systolic pressure after exercise was lower then my resting systolic pressure. My diastolic pressure went up, but my systolic pressure went lower. I was doing pushups for 1 min. Is there any explanation for this?

Also from time to time (rarely), i have a sudden pain in the left side of my chest when i breathe. I also think i had a heart attack when i was about 10 or so.

It is normal for your systolic blood pressure to drop to below pre-exercise levels when finished as the blood has been forced to the smaller capillaries in the large muscle groups. Your diastolic pressure should only rise slightly during exerise and will normally also fall to pre-exercise levels. I would not think a small increase would be an issue as your diastolic pressure should go up approx 5 pts during exercise. You may want to ask the doctors on this forum about that.

Hope this helps,

Good Luck!

Jon
