Low pulse rate high blood pressure

Low pulse rate high blood pressure

I have hypothyroidism and am on meds. I have high blood pressure and also take meds. My pulse has been sometimes going into the 56-60 range. I know i need to but rarely excercise. I had a baby 3 months ago and that is when i started experienceing low pulse and high blood pressure. My doctor ran a stress test, heart monitor fo r24 hrs and echo cardiogram. said my heart is fine not to worry, but i have never had a pulse lower than 70 in my life before giving birth.

niki35,

Heart rate is determined by multiple different factors and can change over time depending on what is happening around you. The average heart rate is between 60-100 beats per minute although many people have resting heart rates either lower or higher than this. Your heart rate is really in the normal range (albeit on the low side).  It sounds as if your doctor has done several tests which sound to be normal that lead him to reassure you. The only other thing suggestion that I would have is that pregnancy can result in changes to the thyroid. If your thyroid has not been recently checked that could be considered.
