Low pulse rate

Low pulse rate

My finace is 67 years old and has noticed his heart rate is low  the past month. He was on BP meds but has recently stopped. He dosen't like to take medication if he dosen't need it. The only other meds he's on is Crestor 10 mg and Prilosec OTC 20 mg . He really has no other health issues, and is in great health according to his Intrenist on his last Physical in July. His average BP the past month since being off meds is 140/80 with pulse rate 40 to 50. He has had a few  symptoms of dizzyiness, shortness of breath and fatigue that he asscoiates with the hot weather not his low heart rate. He dose not see the need to see his Physician just yet, says he's not symptomatic. We do stay failrly actice with golf and other acticities but not at an athletic level.  My question is should he be concerned with this and/or could this be a result of stopping BP meds?

His blood pressure is poorly controlled.  Ideally it should be less than 120/80.  The low pulse rate isn't concerning to me unless he feels very dizzy, especially with exertion.  if that's the case he could have sinus node dysfunction.  The fact that he does get short of breath with some exertion is concerning.  Men tend to minimize their symptoms and even on occasion not tell their doctors about them.  I would have this checked out with a simple stress test and maybe an echocardiogram.
